Woonsocket Falls is the largest falls on the Blackstone River. In 1990 the EPA rated the Blackstone "the most polluted river in the country with respect to toxic sediments." The river's health is improving, however, and the Blackstone River Watershed Association strives for the river to be suitable for fishing and swimming by 2015.
