This display represents local hero General Elliott R. Thorpe. He was Chief of Counter Intelligence for Douglas MacArthur in World War II and stood on the deck of the Missouri for the signing of the Japanese surrender. In World War I, as a young soldier, he stood in the Palace of Versailles during the signing of the peace treaty.
