We've listed Stanley's under Coffee Milk, but really, that's just an excuse. Stanley's main claim to fame is their Stanleyburger, a top quality beef patty grilled on a bed of shredded onions. According to legend, this simple burger has remained substantially unchanged since Polish immigrant Stanley F. Kryla opened his doors in 1932. New owner Gregory Raheb (new since 1987) has expanded the menu to include club sandwiches, chicken tenders, homemade chili, and salads, as well as some standard clam shack items like red and white clam chowder, clam cakes, fish and chips, and fried clams, shrimp, and scallops. But the burgers, he says, are still made just the way Mr. Kryla made them back in the day.

Typical of Stanley-fan opinion, Dave L. from South Kingstown had this to say about the burgers on Yelp!: "These burgers are classic 'sliders,' they are not the behemoth half pounders that have become the usual type of burger you find these days. Stanleyburgers are best ordered in pairs, or even threes. ...The grill man smashes the onion and meat into a patty and cooks it till the blending of onion and meat transcends mere burger ordinariness. What you get is more than the sum of its parts—a cheesy, gooey burger with real beef flavor and real fat dripping into the squishy bun. These are among my favorite burgers anywhere."

Also worth checking out at Stanley's: Dirty fries—hand-cut fries dusted with salt, pepper, herbs and spices; and Quebec-style fries, a tempting poutine-like mess of fries drowned in melted shredded mozzarella cheese and brown gravy, a nod to Central Falls historical role as a settling place for generations of Quebecois mill workers.

And what would a classic burger joint be without a good ice cream float or milkshake (a cabinet in everything but name)? Stanley's has 'em. Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Coffee. Homemade lemonade, too. And grapenut pudding for dessert.

Oh, and did we mention the coffee milk?
