Charlie, Western Maine
It is with tears and a tight throat that I read the recollections of Salty's fans. Hopefully I can add mine.
- The smile was, I believe, genuine.
- An interview I watched, don't remember when, but he said his first day of his broadcasting career was December 7, 1941. One of his first broadcasts was that Pearl Harbor was attacked.
- Times have changed. Salty advised boaters to puncture their cans prior to throwing them overboard so they would sink to the bottom.
- The only radio guy to play the same song twice in a row. He said before the replay "That was a good song, let's hear that again."
