It is with tears and a tight throat that I read the recollections of Salty's fans. Hopefully I can add mine.

1. The smile was, I believe, genuine.
2. An interview I watched, don't remember when, but he said his first day of his broadcasting career was December 7, 1941. One of his first broadcasts was that Pearl Harbor was attacked.
3. Times have changed. Salty advised boaters to puncture their cans prior to throwing them overboard so they would sink to the bottom.
4. The only radio guy to play the same song twice in a row. He said before the replay "That was a good song, let's hear that again."
